Earlier today, Six Apart announced the release of Movable Type 6.1.2. This new version of Movable Type supercedes Movable Type 6.1.1, which was found to have quality assurance problems.
After6 Services strongly recommends upgrading to Movable Type 6.1.2 when possible. The Movable Type 6.1 upgrade contained Version 2.0 of the Movable Type Data API, which adds important new functionality for customers who run applications that interact with Movable Type through JavaScript.

If you are still using a version of Movable Type prior to 6.1, read on for our recommendations.
Users of Movable Type 5 should be running Movable Type 5.2.13 or 5.2.12. Movable Type Version 5.2.12 was a security release that was designed to close vulnerabilities in all previous versions of Movable Type 5. Please refer to the Movable Type 5.2.12 release notes for more details.
Movable Type 3.x, 4.x, 5.0x, and 5.1.x are reminded that these versions have reached End of Life. They are no longer supported by Six Apart. After6 Services will only provide support by special contractual arrangement.
We encourage all Movable Type customers who are still running these deprecated versions of Movable Type to move forward in one of three ways:
- Migrate to another Content Management System, such as WordPress. After6 now provides WordPress services, and has been migrating some of its customers from Movable Type Open Source to WordPress. WordPress has no license fee, and has many more modern third-party plugins and themes than does Movable Type 6. We welcome the opportunity to do a migration analysis for you. - Upgrade to Movable Type 6.1.2. If you need the Movable Type Pro functionality, you will need to purchase an upgrade license at a cost of $499.00. After6 will handle the whole process for you, if you wish. See Movable Type Upgrade Service for more information.
